The treatment may cause your eyes to either water or feel very dry, sting, give you a blurred vision, or make you feel as if you have sand or grit in your eyes. You may get conjunctivitis, where your eyes are red and painful.

You may experience dryness, itching and stinging around your eyes, and your eye lids may be sore and swollen.

Treatment may also cause your eye lashes to become thicker and grow in the wrong direction. Be aware of this, as the eye lashes may scrape against the cornea causing corneal abrasions.

What you can do

Avoid soap, moisturiser and make up containing perfume

Do not use contact lenses during treatment

Use sun glasses

Use ”artificial tears” (neutral eye drops) to alleviate dryness

Use a rich, non-perfumed moisturiser on dry skin around the eyes

In case of conjunctivitis: talk to your doctor - you may need eye drops containing antibiotics

If your eye lashes grow, they can be trimmed by a hair dresser
